Episode 13.1 – Comic Matters – Comics as Cultural Artifacts

Our conversation is fairly wide ranging here, but it’s a big topic. Listen to it here!

The book that sparked our conversation was the Wally Wood EC Stories Artist’s Edition. It’s an absolutely massively sized book, with gorgeous reproductions of Wally Wood’s original art for a bunch of 1950s Science Fiction and War comics.

I mention George Sprott as a good example of Seth’s nostalgia… it is for radio, less so for comics. It’s a Good Life if you Don’t Weaken or Wimbledon Green are both much more topical. Funny how the brain functions sometimes.

We’ve slightly changed how we record/edit our podcasts, and if you have any feedback on that specifically I’d like to know. Ideally we’ll also be able to keep to a schedule of release of Comic Matters on Mondays and Book Clubs on Fridays.

And as always, please feel free to comment generally as well!
